Hermès Fauve Barenia and Toile Bolide 31

I’m not entirely sure why, but Hermès’ Fauve Barenia and Toile Bolide 31 reminds me of tweed, English estates, and the horsey set—drop me in the middle of a romance novel and I’m good to go! It’s made primarily of cream-colored toile, while the top, bottom, reinforced corners, trim, and handles are made of white-stitched Fauve Barenia also known as Natural Barenia. There is a touch of palladium hardware in the zipper, feet, padlock, and keys, which can be stashed in the leather clochette when not in use. Unzip the top to reveal a tonal-leather-lined interior with one slide pocket. The dual rolled handles have a 4-inch drop and when you attach the leather strap, you can rock it as a shoulder bag. In very good condition and stamped with an N in a square, there is wear inside and on the bottom of the bag, marks on the leather, and the handles are a bit darkened. Did you know that a bolide is the generic name for a racing car in French and did you further know that the Bolide style was Hermès’ first zip-topped bag inspired by Henry Ford’s zipper on his cloth-topped cars? Now you can share its backstory when you strut this bag about!
