Gucci Black Queercore Brogue Monk Shoes
These Gucci Black Queercore Brogue Monk Shoes are right in my wheelhouse—they speak to the sensible part of my personality while satisfying the nonconformist in me! Inspired by the queercore movement of the mid-‘80s, they’re an offshoot of punk. And the monk shoe reference? It’s a style of shoe with no laces that is closed by a buckle and strap. Now, back to the business at hand. These slip-ons are made of thick black leather and have two straps with adjustable antiqued silver buckles—one goes over the top of the foot and the other goes around the ankle. They have classic brogue styling with perforations and scallops and an additional lion’s head buckle that adorns the vamp. The backs are embroidered with a gold bee and the 0.75-inch heel guarantees a comfortable fit. These well-made shoes have leather inners and soles and a bit of weight to them. They are in excellent condition and have not been worn but they have a few scratches, possibly from storage. While the House of Gucci didn’t have the decline of the bee population in mind when it started including it in designs, you can champion the cause every time you wear these clunky-cool shoes!
